  1. Fun
  2. Self-Confidence
  3. Friends
  4. Pride

These are some of the values and benefits that your child may learn and develop from participating in Oregon Cross Country (OCC).  Practices will be held locally in Sherwood and runners will wear OCC colors at developmental meets and at the State, Regional, and National meets.
Signing Up and Cost:
Here is what it takes for your child to participate depending on their present status:

Presently RHTC and/or USATF Member

Not a USATF Member

Your child will need to temporarily change their club affiliation:
From: Robin Hood Track Club (or other club)
To: Oregon Cross Country.
This can be done by going to:
http://occ.oregonathletics.org/clubchange.html
You can change the affiliation back to RHTC upon the completion of the season.
Please do not make an affiliation change until your athlete has complete their respective season.

You will need to register your child as a USA Track & Field (USATF) member with affiliation with OCC.
Go to: https://www.usatf.org/membership/application/
Use club number: 37-0930
Cost to participate for a year membership is $19.95.
You will be able to switch your affiliation to RHTC or another club after the XC season.  See instructions to left for how to do so.

Once you have completed either of the above, please send an email to Dave Miller (dcmiller@mcg-llc.net) with your USATF number.

Practices:

Practices will occur under all weather conditions unless Sherwood Schools have been closed due to inclement weather.
Athletes may be required to run under the coaches’ supervision to Stella Olson park.  Pick-up will always be at the location where drop off occurred.
Additionally, through the summer of 2007, runners may participate in various fun runs as non-affiliated runners.  This will be an opportunity to build camaraderie and develop conditioning prior to the season starting.

Runners are encouraged to run between 5 to 15 miles per week during the summer, with no run exceeding more than 3 or 4 miles at a time unless the runner is at an advanced level.  This will allow the runners to start the season in shape, and not have to “practice into running form”.
